Coalmine Lookout and Anglesea Heath walk, 9 km, Saturday April 24.
This is an easy circuit walk along dirt roads in the Anglesea Heath and a new walking track along Salt Creek. There are no toilets, no escapes and most of the walk has no shade but we will get interesting panoramic views overlooking the coalmine, its rehabilitation and the surrounding heathlands.
The walk starts at the corner of Peregrine Track and Ball Hills Road. After a few kilometres we turn back around on a gentle climb along the ridge via the Alcoa Boundary Track up to a lookout (about 6 km). Crossing Bald Hills Rd, we return to the cars on a new walking track (about 3.5 km) Parks Victoria are constructing to highlight the Anglesea Heath.
Meet at the ANGAIR Office in McMillan St 9.30 am. We will carpool to the corner of Peregrine Track on Bald Hills Road, which is about 6 km along a dirt road.
