We arrived at Point Impossible to find a full car park, and people, surfboards, and dogs everywhere.

We were then amazed to find a large flock of Red-capped Plovers and Red-necked Stints in an area that was thankfully clear of people and dogs. Across the river we also saw two Hooded Plovers sheltering in the seaweed.

Minya winery was warmer and drier than last year, but the mud-flats were being enjoyed by some Black-tailed Native Hens.

We had a good sighting of a Brown Falcon enabling us to check out his distinguishing features. This balanced a quick and frustrating sighting of a raptor that was either a Collared Sparrowhawk or Grey Goshawk. On the island we frightened off a pair of Nankeen Night-Herons and saw many ducks on the distant river.

Flocks of Common Mynas and Starlings were not a welcome sight, but several fly-overs by blue-winged Parrots were a pleasure to see. Coffee on the balcony overlooking the billabong was a very pleasant conclusion to the morning.
