This was the first week for Melbourne people to be able to join the walk. It was nice to see some old faces again, albeit hidden behind masks!

We went to Jinda Park, a farm on Bambra Road where 17 years ago the owners revegetated severely eroded areas. The trees are tall with thick understory and you’d never know it wasn't natural growth. The verdant hills are very steep and we walked and slid our way down to the creek to survey birds for the Upper Barwon Landcare Network.

We didn’t see a lot of birds in the study zones although we heard them calling. A highlight of the calls was the Brush Cuckoo, always hard to see, even when calling. Another highlight was finding a Long-billed Corella on the nest. All up we saw 31 species for the day.
