Anglesea, Aireys Inlet and the surrounding area are included in one of Victoria’s greatest bushwalking areas—the Great Otway National Park.

ANGAIR has been offering guided day walks in this area on the fourth weekend of the month since April 1996, although regular nature rambles and excursions have been held since ANGAIR first began.

The purpose of these guided monthly walks is to explore the abundance of excellent, well-maintained walking tracks in the area and the diverse vegetation and topography they offer. The walks are graded from easy to medium with distances varying from 6–10 kms and are led by experienced and knowledgeable leaders. They usually take around four or five hours to complete.

We walk at a leisurely pace allowing plenty of time to wonder, listen and share. There is always something new to learn about the flora, fauna, geology or local history.

On the walks we explore the natural beauty of the heathland as well as coastal areas, flowing waterfalls and eucalyptus forests. Amazing birdlife and the spectacular seasonal display of vibrant colours of wildflowers and orchids are part of what attracts the walkers.

The other part is social—enjoying a walk in beautiful country with good company.

Every month from February to November, details of the next walk are published in ANGAIR’S newsletter. Please join us to discover this magnificent and diverse environment.

And if, by any chance, you would like to offer to guide us on your favourite walk, don’t hesitate! Debra White, the program co-ordinator, is always looking for new leaders and walks and would love to hear from you. She can be contacted on This email address is being protected from spambots.
