The Surf Coast Shire has established a community based, Anglesea River Working Group to help address the issues associated with the acid events and fish kills in the Anglesea River.
The working group, which includes two ANGAIR representatives, has met three times, and identified the range of concerns about the river. ANGAIR’s primary concern is about the impact of the acid events on riparian vegetation, and the various options put forward to manage them. Most recently, the working group met with an expert panel to answer questions about the cause of the acid events, how they might be managed, and the risks and benefits of management options. The expert panel report will come back to the working group next month.
