Spring has rung in the changes at the Propagation Unit which will affect sales to members. The pricing structure has been simplified so that we can accurately count the number of plants we sell. For members, plants will be $2.50 each. If you buy 50 or more plants, the unit price is $2.00. Plants in large pots will have a surcharge of $1.00 each.
The new rates were tested successfully at the members’ open day. We sent exactly 571 plants to new homes.
The number of members’ open days will be increased to four—the maximum allowed by our permit. Three of these will be in autumn, the optimum time for planting. One of those members’ days will be on the Sunday before the Easter Sunday riverbank market, as usual depending on the moveable Easter calendar but they will generally be in March, April and May.
As you will be aware, the VCAT conditions of our permit do not allow us to sell plants on site which meant members’ casual purchases that had occurred in the past were no longer possible. But those of you with a good memory will recall that in July 2017 the newsletter carried notice of a solution to this difficulty. Here it is again:
The solution, we hope, is an arrangement by which members who know what they want can order in advance and have plants set aside (subject to availability) and put on hold. This system retains the ‘first come, first served’ advantage of membership and conforms to our permit restrictions.
You are always welcome to drop in on either Tuesday or Thursday mornings to see what is available and to make up an order form without having to email it. But we cannot sell you plants then. We can, however, arrange for convenient off-site sales.

We meet at at the propagation unit behind the ANGAIR office, each Tuesday and Thursday at 9.00 a.m. and continue until we finish at about 12.00 p.m. Anyone with an interest in achieving something special is welcome, and no experience is required.
The ANGAIR Plant Propagation Group is very short of forest tubes and always like more cartons. Please leave them at the ANGAIR Office. Thanks in advance for your support.
